The Pineta Valley is one of the four valleys that make up the Ordesa and Monte Perdido National Park and is considered one of the most impressive in the Pyrenees. From Bielsa to the Hermitage of the Virgin of Pineta, you will enjoy a landscape of indescribable beauty, where lush forests of pines, firs, and beech trees accompany you on your journey.
The environment and hiking routes
The valley is the birthplace of the Cinca River and forms one of the most spectacular river courses in the Aragonese Pyrenees. The surroundings are surrounded by heights exceeding 2,000 meters, creating a feeling of awe-inspiring narrowness. Within the park, you will find iconic mountains such as Monte Perdido (3,355 m), Marboré, and Tuca Roya.
In the Valle de Pineta, there are numerous hiking routes that will allow you to delve into this exceptional natural space. Two of the most classic ones are Los Llanos de la Larri and Balcón de Pineta. Los Llanos de la Larri is an easy route with little elevation gain, ideal for a family hike. On the other hand, Balcón de Pineta is a more demanding ascent that will offer you a spectacular panoramic view of the valley and allow you to reach Lake Marboré, from where you can also enjoy a beautiful view of the glacier.
Geology and landscape
The Valle de Pineta is a true geological spectacle. Its walls, layers, and superimposed bands create a majestic and beautiful landscape. The clean atmosphere, the freshness of the shaded areas, the vegetation, and the rocks will immerse you in the magic of the Pyrenees. Additionally, water in the form of waterfalls and the Cinca River plays an important role in the landscape, enlivening it and offering beautiful scenes.
In this valley, you will also find the Santuario de la Virgen de Pineta, a humble hermitage that is part of the charm of the place. From Pineta, you will be able to appreciate the majestic ensemble of peaks and undulations that make up this unique environment, as well as the endless shades of tone and light provided by the rock, vegetation, and sky.
