The Ordesa and Monte Perdido National Park has been recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO (see reference) The park encompasses four valleys (Ordesa, Añisclo, Escuaín and Pineta) that spread around Monte Perdido, the highest limestone mountain in Europe.
The area is considered the true heart of the Pyrenees and is one of the first protected natural parks in Europe.
